Daily Word - Cloud computing

Cloud Computing is a new revolution in computing where software that is traditionally installed on personal computers are shifted or extended to be accessible via the internet. Prior to the Cloud Computing paradigm, software is installed on the PC and resides there only, they are also called "desktop applications". With the advent of massive data centers and powerful servers to host web applications and web services, the traditional desktop software is slowly being migrated to run on these powerful "cloud servers" and accessed by anyone with a suitable internet connection and a standard browser. The software is slowly being transformed as a web application (web app) residing on the "internet cloud", and the need for software installations is unnecessary when using these "Software through the Internet" or Cloud apps that run in a Cloud Computing platform. This is the newest paradigm shift to occur in our time. It is as momentous as the Industrial Revolution.
